Heart Failure Occurs When The Heart Can’t Pump Blood Quickly Enough

By Eddie Smyths for exercise-and-health.com

Heart failure comes about when the heart is no longer able to pump enough blood to the body as quickly as it is needed. Failure, attacks and heart disease can all happen to anyone including those who implement a lifetime fitness program while monitoring their target heart rate into their lifestyle. When a lesser amount of blood flows from the heart to organs, like the kidneys, it can result in the body retaining more fluid, which only complicates the problem. This only goes to show that the relationship between a healthy heart and other organs in the body can be a fragile one. Once any one organ has failure, disease or injury, it can result in additional damage including failure of the heart.

There are a number of sign and symptoms that could be a warning to indicate some kind of failure of the heart. Shortness of breath, known as pulmonary edema, can be caused by congestion in the lungs. An important test to perform is to see if the shortness of breath becomes worse when you lie on your back. Shortness of breath can also happen suddenly during the night.

Becoming tired or fatigued is a common complaint that come with age or being out of shape. But if the condition continues for extended periods of time, it could be the result of failure in the heart. Lethargy could be the result of organs that are not getting enough oxygen. If you feel as exhausted in the morning as you did when you went to bed the night before, it is a concern that is best addressed with your doctor immediately.

There are a number of other issues and signs regarding the condition of the heart in both mens health and womens health. A history of disease, attacks and failure should be discussed with your doctor to begin using the proper exercise equipment for your own personal exercise program and the kind of diet that will ensure a healthy lifestyle. With any question or concerns regarding the heart, it is important to discuss them with your doctor as soon as possible.
