Ab Exercises Can Get Your Tummy Ready For Swim Season

By Eddie Smyths for exercise-and-health.com

Ab exercises are a great way to get your abdominal muscles ready for summer and the swimsuit you’ve always wanted to wear. While lifetime fitness and exercising while maintaining your target heart rate can help you get a healthy body, sometimes crunches or additional tummy exercises are necessary to target a common problem area in both mens health and womens health. When exercise equipment isn’t an option, here are some exercise ideas to get your abs ready for that sexy summer lifestyle.

When you begin your abdominal exercises, remember to breathe normally and never hold your breath. The healthy oxygen flow in a person’s body only works to promote healthy muscles and prevents ineffective workouts and injury.

Begin the first exercise by lying flat on your back and press the lower abdominal area to the floor. Place your hands beside your head and bring your knees up to a 45-degree angle. Begin exercising as if you are on a bicycle by acting as if your are riding the pedals while touching your elbows to the opposite knee and alternating sides.

The next exercise is similar to a traditional crunch. Lie flat and press your lower abdominal area to the floor. Place your hands behind your head and stretch your legs straight up into the air with your knees crossed. Squeeze your abs and lift your torso up towards your knees. Remember to keep your breathing steady and hold your abdominal muscles flat throughout your movement.

The abdominal region is a problem area for many people regardless of a good diet and healthy lifestyle. While a regular exercise routine is always beneficial to anyone’s health, adding a few additional abdominal exercises could make the difference between the cut in swimsuit you choose for your summer activities.
